Vic: Bus drivers locked out in industrial dispute
About 40,000 Melbourne commuters could be forced to make alternative transport arrangements
after a lockout of National Bus Company workers.
Transport Workers Union Victorian secretary BILL NOONAN says 300 bus drivers were told
not to return to work after a meeting this morning to discuss the company's latest pay
offer.
He's accused the company of trying to bully the members into accepting a lower rate
of pay than other bus drivers doing the same sort of work.
The National Bus Company is the state's largest public bus operator, running services
on 44 routes across Melbourne.
Comment is being sought from the company.
