FED: Kelty one of the greats, says Costa

NSW Labor Council secretary MICHAEL COSTA says BILL KELTY will be regarded as one of the
century's great Australian trade union leaders.

Mr COSTA also says he believes the ACTU secretary, who announced today he would resign on
February 15 next year, has chosen the right moment to go.

Mr COSTA says Mr KELTY has made some significant breakthroughs in the Hawke/Keating period,
particularly in terms of superannuation and the social wage.

Mr COSTA says the Accord period was Mr KELTY'S greatest legacy with the trade union
movement through the Accord period having had tremendous power and influence.
