Qld: Thousands of witnesses to casino incident may be called

Police say thousands of witnesses to Wednesday night's extortion bid in Brisbane's
Treasury Casino may be called to give evidence at a coronial inquiry.

They're calling on more than 3,500 people evacuated from the casino and two adjacent
buildings to come forward and give statements.

They were removed after a man threatened to blow up the casino unless he was paid $500,000.

Police shot dead 41-year-old GARY GRAHAM STOUTE following the drama in the high-roller's
room of th casino which lasted more than three hours.

They've refused to confirm newspaper reports that STOUTE was also planning a bank robbery.

Detailed plans of his extortion bid were found in his car, parked just metres from
the casino in nearby Charlotte Street.
