Qld:Around a dozen calls taken on Hollingworth hotline

Around a dozen people have called a telephone hotline set up for the victims of child
abuse at Anglican schools while Governor-General PETER HOLLINGWORTH was Archbishop of
Brisbane.

MARTIN BONSEY, official secretary to the governor-general, says some of the callers
were anonymous, some were away on holidays and didn't leave contact numbers, and others
left messages unrelated to the issue.

He says a very small number are actually related to child abuse.

He's declined to specify how many were actually seeking an appointment with the governor-general.

On Christmas Eve, Dr HOLLINGWORTH offered to meet some of the victims and their families
in the new year.

He'd previously denied being involved in a cover-up of sexual abuse at the Toowoomba
Preparatory School.

Any of the victims wishing to contact Dr HOLLINGWORTH can call 02 6283 3537.
