Pakistan coverage is very biased.

Provided by 7DAYS.ae

It upsets me to seeAa biased journalists who either deliberately or by ignorance negate the facts when analysing the

situation in Pakistan. Let me list down the basic facts once for all.

1. The general elections on February 18 wereAa boycottedAa by almost ALL the Religious political parties e.g. the Jamaat i Islami, JUP etc. as they

doubted the fairness of the exercise under President Musharraf. Hence, the precipitation of the results in favour of PPP or the Nawaz League (who themselves decided to participate at the last minute after earlier flip flops on the issue )wasAa more by default than by any merit and reflects a flawed picture of the electorate's will.

2. It would do well to remember that earlier under Musharraf, the first democratic elections resulted in the Muthida Majlis Amal ( MMA) , an

umbrella for all religious parties, forming the government in Baluchistan and the Frontier provinces. And the same extremist elements aided and abetted the Talebanisation inroads into the settled areas of Pakistan which Musharraf tried to resist by miltary action in a timely manner.

3. So the menace of extremism is still very much alive and pseudo leaders like Nawaz Sharif (a product of GeneralAa Ziaul Haque) are symapthetic to religious extremists and are fooling the masses.

4. Of the total ballots cast in the February 18 elections, the second highest tally ( more than 8 MN ) went to parties ( PML Q and MQM )

supporting Musharraf;s policies.This fact is always downplayed by design.

5. Can any analyst honestly say that the PPP and the Nawaz League are 'Democratic ' by any stretch of imagination ; Undoubtedly, they are strictly Family limited concerns. What hypocrisy ;
